Fun with Illustration: Light & Shadow (Mar. 2025)

Mar. 9, 16, & 23 Sunday Afternoon at B.Marie's Atelier & Gallery.

Light and shadow work together to create complex tonal relationships, which help us make sense of what we see in the world around us. Shading defines dark and light shapes, giving objects a more realistic look and more dimension. The intensity of the light source affects the characteristics of the shadow.

Learn to observe the shape of a cast shadow, the light source's color temperature, the surface's local color, and the shadow's value.

Explore techniques and tools to help you realistically translate your observations onto paper. Use this class as a refresher to practice your drawing skills within a studio environment.
